Since 1992 chess in our school has experienced a meteoric rise in success
and popularity. We won our first ever Chess trophy - The Post-Primary School Div.4 League Championship - in our
first year (1992-93) by beating off opposition from six other schools. This was a great achievement for a team
with little experience at competition level. Success followed again in the 94/95 season when, following a tough
series of matches, we topped the Division 3 table. We earned our promotion an the next season saw three teams
entering at Division 2,3 and 4 levels.

Chess has been dominated in recent years by Christians College
and Douglas Community School (and C.S.N are always hard to beat) However, we are assembling a strong
player base and hope to soon challenge for top honours in Division 1.
